Thanks for the reply. But there is no reason to believe that the Darwinian evolution is limited to the biological realm. A self-alterable code is all that’s needed, whether it’s in silicon or in biological matter. The evolutionary cycles will be much faster in machines with self-altering code with billions of operations per second than in spontaneous genetic mutations or progenies who occur only once every 30 years between human generations.
So yes, the threat doesn’t come from the human AI researchers and their advancements in ‘machine learning’. But the threat that comes from self-emerging and extremely fast-evolving AI could be all the more imminent, because machine learning has brought the mass adoption of self-altering code.
